New Delhi, Nov 14: Secular is the biggest lie since Independence and those who have coined this word must apologise to the people and this country, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath said on Monday in Raipur.
Responding to a question on communalism and secularism at a function organised by the Dainik Jagran group, the UP CM said,”Mera maanna hai ki azadi ke baad Bharat mein sabse bada jhooth dharmnirpeksh shabd hai. Nagrikon ke saath, Bharat ke logon ke saath… un logon ko maafi maangni chahiye, jinhone is shabd ko janm diya aur jo yeh shabd istemaal karte hai… koi vyavastha dharmnirpeksh nahin ho sakti (I believe that the word secular is the biggest lie since Independence. Those who have coined this word must apologise to this country. No system can be secular).”
“Rajneetik vyavastha panthnirpeksh ho sakti hai. Agar koi humse kahega ki shasan us upasna vidhi se chalni chahiye, toh nahin chal sakti. (Political system can be sect-neutral. If someone were to say that government has to be run by one way of prayer, that is not possible),”Leading daily Indian Express quoted Adityanath’s statement from the event.
Meanwhile, in a separate event yesterday, Yogi Adityanath dubbed Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi a “failed player in politics” and exuded confidence that the BJP will win the upcoming Assembly elections in Gujarat.
“Rahul Gandhi is a failed player in politics. Congress leaders themselves have started commenting on him that wherever he becomes more active, the party has to face defeat,” the UP CM said.
Adityanath was in Chhattisgarh to attend several programmes on Monday. On the sidelines of events, he also met state Chief Minister Raman Singh at his official residence and discussed several scheme ongoing in the two states.
