New Delhi, August 13: A 19-year-old son of a former Manipur Minister died on Saturday morning after he fell from the terrace of a restaurant in Hauz Khas Village. The police said that they were unable to determine whether the death was by accident or intentional.

The teenager identified as, Siddharth Okendru, the son of Manipur’s former Home and Education Minister M Okendru, was declared dead on Sunday evening at around 4:30 pm at Safdarjung hospital, where he was admitted after he fell from the terrace. The spot from where the victim fell is located on the second floor of the building.

The family members of the victim who arrived at the spot said that the death was suspicious, and police officials said the case was being investigated for all possibilities.

The cops are probing all angles. “We are probing if it was an accidental fall or he was pushed off the terrace. We are also looking at the CCTV images from nearby buildings,” a senior police official said.

The cops got first call about the incident at around 4:40 pm and after reaching the spot they found broken pots, a purse, a mobile phone and spectacles. There were no eyewitnesses in the case.

The victim lived in Safdarjung Development Area and had come to the restaurant with his friends. Police said that they have no evidence yet to suspect or deny allegations of foul play.

The Hauz Khas Village is a popular commercial area with the city’s young for its dozens of cafes and bars. Weekends are usually its most crowded days.
