Srinagar, Oct 3: One jawan succumbed to his injuries in the Srinagar BSF camp suicide attack. Ravideep Singh Sahi, IGP, CRPF, informed that BSF Assistant Sub Inspector BK Yadav who was injured in the terror attack has succumbed to his injuries. All three terrorists, holed up in administrative building and JCO Mess, have been killed in the ongoing gunfight and the search operation is underway. A group of three terrorists carrying a massive amount of explosives stormed inside 182 battalion Border Security Force (BSF) camp near Srinagar international airport in Humhuma area in the wee hours of Tuesday and opened fire. The terrorists fired indiscriminately and threw grenades. At least 25 blasts were heard when the attack began. (Here is what we know so far on the attack)

Pakistan-based terror group Jaish e Mohammed’s “Afzal Guru squad” claimed the responsibility for the suicide attack. Following the suicide attack, troops of CRPF, 53 RR, BSF and SOG zonal cordoned off the building. All the morning flights have been cancelled till security clearance. All the airports have also been sealed. Kashmir Valley School will remain closed in the wake of the attacks.

“Srinagar Airport shut due to ongoing encounter/operation. No flight operation till security clearance. Airport under CRPF security,” News agency ANI quoted a CRPF official.

To take stock of the situation, Home Minister Rajnath Singh will hold a high-level meeting at 11:30 AM. Top officials including Union Home Secretary, IB chief, and RAW chief are expected to attend the meet. MoS PMO Jitendra Singh said, “Security forces responded promptly to Srinagar terror attack and ensured that there is no collateral damage to civilians.”

The suicide attack came a day after the Indian Army killed five terrorists foiling two infiltration bids along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.
