Poor Deputy Jailor of Salem prison should have showed off his dancing skills anywhere than official premises. 58-year-old Shankaran, the deputy jailer of Attur sub jail in Salem district, Tamil Nadu become a WhatsApp and other social media ‘celebrity’ courtesy his dancing video became viral. The viral video shot by a mobile camera captures Shankaran dancing in police uniform in front of other police personnel did not go down well with senior authorities and faced suspension on February 9, Tuesday. ALSO WATCH: Shameful video! The deputy jailer Shankaran was in Chennai to take part in Republic Day Parade broke into an impromptu dance to a rhythmic drum beat. He danced merrily while donning the uniform in front of other police personnel, few cheering while some captured the ‘happy dance’ on their mobile. This footage went viral on social media including Facebook and instant messaging apps like WhatsApp, prompting Shankaran to be placed under suspension on Tuesday. ALSO WATCH: Traffic police drunk with power manhandles citizen.

According to the reports, the then Salem Central Prison Superintendent Shanmugasundaram conducted inquiry after this incident came under light. Amidst all this, another allegation against the Deputy Jailer surfaced how Shankaran forced a prisoner to cut his hair and give him a massage previous month. Shankaran was transferred to Coimbatore prison before the new superintendent of Salem Central Prison M Senthil Kumar served suspension order to Shankaran based on the inquiry.
