Tejas Express to make its maiden journey from Mumbai to Goa today

The Executive Class fare in Tejas has been fixed at Rs 2,540 without food and Rs 2,940 with food. The Chair Car fare Rs 1,850 with food and Rs 1,220 without food.

New Delhi, May 22: The luxurious Tejas Express with ultra-modern amenities on board like LED TV, wi-fi, CCTV and much more will make its maiden journey from Mumbai to Goa on Monday. The semi-high speed train will run between Mumbai and Karmali (Goa) five days a week during non-monsoon period and three days a week during monsoon by halting at Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Ratnagiri and Kudal stations.

“Train No 22119 Superfast Tejas Express will leave CST at 5 AM every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 24 and arrive at Karmali at 1:30 PM the same day. Train No 22120 Superfast Tejas Express will leave Karmali at 2:30 PM on every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, starting from May 23 and arrive at the CST at 9 PM,” DK Sharma, general manager of the Central Railway, said.

Tejas will have two executive AC chair car with 56 seating capacity and 12 AC chair cars with 78 seat capacity of each coach.  (Also read: Tejas Express – from reclining chairs to automatic doors: Here are top features of superfast train)

Unlike the Shatabdi Express, passengers will have the option to opt for onboard food. If a passenger opts for food while buying ticket, the catering charge will be included in the fare. There is an increase of more than 20 per cent in the base fare for Tejas as against the Shatabdi, said a railway ministry official.

The superfast surcharge, reservation fee and catering charges will be levied separately.

The Shatabdi fares are Rs 2,390 and Rs 1,185 in Executive Coach and Chair Car respectively which include food also.

Manufactured at the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala, the coaches will have automatic entrance door, a first in non- suburban train in the Indian Railways.
