Dubai, April 11: Alpha Paint, a reputed firm in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), fired its employee for abusing journalist Rana Ayyub on social media, and posting derogatory content against Islam. The sacked employee, identified as Bincy Lalis a migrant from Kerala. He was working with the company since 2015, after switching over from Sharjah-based National Paints.

The matter came to light after netizens reported the company’s management about the abusive content posted by Bincy Lal against Rana Ayyub. A written complaint was sent to Shadi Al Refai, human resource manager of the company, on April 7. Upon being questioned over the controversial social media posts, Bincy accepted the charge, promising the company of not exhibiting the indecent behaviour again.

The complaint sent to the company contained a screenshot of the messages posted by Bincy Lal. On probing the accuracy of the complaint, human resource department found the allegations to be true. Subsequently, a termination order was issued. “When we checked on his Facebook account, we saw the abusive message which was sent to that lady in addition to offensive posts against Islam,” the human resource manager was quoted as saying by Gulf News.

Bincy, working as a customer service employee for the past couple of years, would be deported back to India. His visa was cancelled on Monday and deportation order was subsequently issued. Adhering to the UAE labour laws, Alpha Paint has decided to pay the rent of his flight back to New Delhi.

Bincy is expected to face penal action upon his return to India as Rana Ayyub has decided to file a police complaint in Delhi. “I will file an FIR in Delhi,” she confirmed on Twitter after being informed about the deportation of the miscreant.

“Indian companies and even MNC’s (sic) need to learn from this. Zero tolerance for sexual harassment & incitement,” revered scribe Swati Chaturvedi tweeted. Similar views were aired by CPI(M-L) leader Kavita Krishnan, who said, “Indian employed in UAE fired for sexually abusive post against Rana Ayyub, Bravo! What about others?”

Appreciating the decision of UAE government to deport the Kerala expat, Ayyub said on Twitter, “UAE government has revoked Bincy Lal’s visa and are deporting him back to India. A lesson for those who harass us, will drag you out of your ratholes.”
