Lucknow, Apr 9: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a probe into the custodial death of the Unnao rape victim’s father. He has said that those who are at fault will not be spared.
“It is an unfortunate incident. ADG Lucknow has been asked to probe the matter thoroughly. Those at fault, whoever they might be, will not be spared,” he said on Monday.
Uttar Pradesh DGP OP Singh said that a team was formed in Lucknow to investigate the matter in Unnao. He added that the accused mentioned in the FIR might be arrested. He said the jail authority was asked about the circumstances of the victim’s father’s death. He assured action against the guilty.
Meanwhile, the BJP MLA in question, Kuldeep Singh Sengar, said there was no allegation against him.
“There is no allegation against me and I’m open to any kind of investigation. Strict action should be taken against the real culprit,” he said.
Sengar was summoned by UP CM Yogi Adityanath.
Victim’s family has demanded justice. “My father has already died and now, they say that action will be taken. I just want that FIR is written against Arun Singh and Kuldeep Singh and they are arrested. I want justice,” sister of the victim said.
Two police officers and four constables were suspended on Monday. Four people have been arrested for allegedly beating the rape victim’s father. The DIG, Law and Order, said that a magisterial inquiry will be conducted into the incident.
The father of the woman who alleged that she was raped by a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and his accomplices, died in police custody in Unnao on Monday. While his family accused the police of killing him, the district hospital authorities say that he was admitted after he complained of uneasiness. “He was admitted to hospital last night by police after he complained of abdominal pain and vomiting. He passed away in early morning hours,” said Dr Atul of the District hospital.
The man’s daughter and other family members had attempted suicide outside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s residence in Lucknow on Sunday.
