Lucknow, Apr 11: The Unnao rape survivor has alleged that she has been kept in captivity in a hotel room and is not even being given water. She has also alleged that she has been barred from watching television and is also being forced to go to her village. She has said that if she leaves the city and goes to her village, her paternal uncle’s life would be in danger as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar would target him. “I appeal to CM Yogi Adityanath to provide me justice. The DM has confined me to a hotel room, they are not even serving me water. I just want the culprit to be punished,” she said.

Meanwhile, Sangeeta Sengar, the wife of the accused MLA met the Uttar Pradesh DGP on Wednesday morning and said that her husband is being targeted. She was seen in tears this morning when she went to meet the DGP in connection with the case. She said that she came to meet the DGP to ensure justice is done. “There’s political motive behind this. Make my husband & girl (rape victim) undergo narco test. My daughters are traumatised. We’re being mentally harassed. No evidence has been presented yet, still he’s being labelled as rapist,” she said.

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea filed by a lawyer in the case. The lawyer has sought a CBI inquiry and compensation for the rape survivor’s family. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to submit its report in the case by Wednesday evening. He is also scheduled to meet BJP President Amit Shah, who is visiting Lucknow today.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Uttar Pradesh police arrested BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar’s brother Atul Sengar along with three others in connection with the case. However, the victim questioned as to why the MLA was not being arrested by police. “Kuldeep Singh (Sengar) isn’t being arrested. I don’t know if his brother is arrested. I demand that they be hanged till death. They’ve made my life miserable. I want justice. They killed my father,” the alleged rape victim said.

On Tuesday, the postmortem report of the rape survivor’s father indicated that he died due to internal injuries. “Postmortem report states cause of death shock and septicemia due to peritonitis and ascending colon perforation,” said Anand Kumar, ADG Law and Order. “When the patient was brought here, his intestine had been damaged due to a colon rupture and hence he contracted an infection. Due to this, he went into shock and later passed away. As per our investigation, cause of death is shock and septicemia due to peritonitis and ascending colon perforation,” said Chief Medical Officer (CMO) SP Chaudhary. Speaking to Zee News, he said that there were 14 injury marks on the man’s body and that he could have been saved had he been brought to the hospital in time.

The father of the rape survivor died in police custody on Monday. He was arrested on April 8 after he along with his daughter attempted suicide in front of the Chief Minister’s residence in Lucknow. The woman has alleged that she was gangraped by Sengar and his accomplices in June 2017.
