Mathura, Sep 16: A 45-year-old woman from Odisha was allegedly gangraped in Mathura’s famous Sriji temple at Barsana by a watchman and a cook on the night of September 11. The police arrested watchman Kanhiaya Yadav, whereas the other suspect Rajender Thakur is absconding. Yadav was arrested by the police on Friday. The police will examine a CCTV footage, recovered from the temple.

As reported by news agency Press Trust of India, the woman was sleeping on the temple’s balcony when Yadav and Thakur forcibly took her to an isolated place and took turns to rape her. The woman said that she had gone to Barsana police station to file a complaint, but the police refused to file an FIR.

As reported by Times of India, the police said that they couldn’t file an FIR as she was unable to communicate properly because of the language problem. (Also Read: Rajasthan: 6-year-old Allegedly Raped in Govt School; Cops Detain Two Sweepers)
