New Delhi, April 21: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on late Friday evening freed all 6 detainees who were taken into custody for interrogation for their alleged involvement in terrorist activities. The six were nabbed in a joint operation by Delhi Police special cell and UP ATS along with three others arrested on suspicion of terror-related activities. The joint operation was launched simultaneously in Mumbai, Jalandhar, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar.

Asim Arun, UP ATS, was quoted by Times of India yesterday saying UP ATS, along with police of five states has conducted anti-terror raids in Maharashtra, Punjab, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. In the joint operation, two were arrested at a mosque in Bijnor’s Barhapur area.

Yesterday, in a press meet, ADG (Law and Order) Uttar Pradesh Daljeet Singh said that Nine people from different locations were held by police and interrogation is underway to ascertain the details of the planned attack. He had further added that his team holds evidence against 4 such people and all of them are self-motivated, adding, asfter the investigation it was clear that suspects did not belong to any organisation.

Earlier on March 8, three terrorists holed up inside a house on the outskirts of Lucknow at Thakurganj locality under Kakori police station. Saifullah was killed by commandos in a house on the outskirts of Lucknow following a 12-hour long anti-terror operation.
