On March 27, a jilted lover set a 17-year-old girl on fire after she refused to marry him. The girl received 70 per cent burns and is currently been treated at Osmania Hospital. The incident was reported on Tuesday at around 2 PM when the girl was alone in her house in Ganga Nagar. The boy wanted the contact details of the girl’s fiancee. On being refused, he lit her dupatta on a stove and threw it on her.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the boy wanted to marry the girl but her marriage had already been fixed with some other man. She even had had an engagement ceremony and her parents were waiting for her to turn 18.
