Etah, April 17: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed in Etah, Uttar Pradesh. Police said the child was choked to death after the rape. The incident has been reported from the Kotwali area and the girl was reportedly lured from a wedding function near Mandi Samiti in Shitalpur area. Her body was recovered late on Monday.
SSP Akhilesh Kumar Chaurasia said the accused, Sonu, had been arrested, reports The New Indian Express. A probe in underway even as police forces have been deployed in view of the growing tension over a number of rape cases coming to light in the recent past.
In Surat, a girl’s body was recovered from bushes near a ground about ten days ago. The body, yet to be identified, bore 86 injury marks. The girl was in the 9-11 years age group. The doctor who conducted the postmortem on her body said the nature of injuries hinted at the child being held captive, tortured and raped before being killed. Police suspected she was from Odisha and all SPs in Gujarat had been instructed to gather information on girls in the areas under their jurisdiction.
A news channel reported that police have admitted that no breakthrough in the girl’s identity had been the biggest roadblock for them in their investigation.
