Baghpat, Jan 14: Hindu Yuva Vahini workers on Sunday thrashed three men in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district alleging ‘love jihad’. The incident has been reported from the premises of Baghpat court. Reports say, the youths belong to Punjab. The police, meanwhile, rescued them and is probing the matter.
Speaking to news agency ANI on the matter, Jayprakash Singh, Superintendent of Police, Baghpat, said, “It’s too early to comment on what exactly happened, we are probing the whole incident, everything should not be linked to ‘love jihad’.”
According to a report in Navbharat Times, a man, along with his two brothers, reached Baghpat court to marry a girl from Punjab. All three of them were sitting in the chamber of a lawyer when they were caught hold by the workers of Hindu Yuva Vahini, who then interrogated them.
The Hindu Yuva Vahini workers lost their cool when they came to know that the man, who was to marry a Hindu girl, belonged to a different community.
On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and rescued the trio. On investigating the matter, the police found that the three men and the woman belong to Punjab and had eloped around four days back. It was also revealed that an FIR in this context has been registered at Barnala police station.
