Lucknow, April 13: In a shocking incident, a Uttar Pradesh government official drove his car for four kilometers with a man clinging to the bonnet in Ramnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. The victim’s only fault was that he had demanded the second installment of funds needed for the construction of toilets in his village.

On Wednesday, a group of villagers from Ramnagar gathered around Pankaj Kumar Gautam’s office, a block development officer, to demand the second installment of funds needed for the construction of toilets in the village. Despite waiting for hours in the scorching heat, nobody listened to their concerns.

When the officer came out of his office, he headed in the direction of his car instead of addressing the concerns of the protesters. He quickly went inside the car while the angry bunch of protesters followed him. The victim, Brij Pal hopped on to the bonnet of his car to stop the officer, but he sped away. The victim kept hanging onto the bonnet until the officer decided to stop after driving for four kilometers.

Both the men filed FIRs against each other at the Aonla police station in Ramnagar. The district magistrate Virendra Kumar Singh set up a three-member committee to investigate the incident.
