Visakhapatnam, Oct 18: An 11-year-old boy in Diguva Kolaput village in Visakhapatnam District’s Dumbriguda mandal allegedly committed suicide at his home as he couldn’t get an Aadhaar card. As reported by PTI, the boy named Korra Balakrishna, a student of Government Ashram High School, Killoguda was told to get an Aadhaar card by his school. The school asked for Aadhaar to link government schemes such as scholarship to his account.

As reported by PTI, the boy could get an Aadhaar neither in Araku nor in Visakhapatnam as his fingerprints couldn’t get recorded digitally. This happened as three fingers of his hand were conjoined.

The boy was upset as he didn’t get an Aadhar and hanged himself when his family members were asleep, informed the police.

The incident happened just a few days after an 11-year-girl Santoshi Kumari died of starvation in Jharkhand s Simdega district as she didn’t get food for eight days. The victim s family was denied food under public distribution system after the family failed to link their ration card with Aadhar number.
