Kolkata, September 17: A class 11 girl from West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district committed suicide on Friday night after she was scolded by her elder brother for spending too much time on Facebook. The girl ended her life by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in her bedroom, informed the family members. The girl took this extreme step when she was alone on Friday evening as her family members had gone to a hospital to visit a relative.
As reported by Hindustan Times, the police are looking at all angles in the case. When the family members returned home at 8 pm, they found her hanging from the ceiling fan. The family members said that a few days before her death, her Whatsapp status read – I am dead.
The girl’s mother told that since she was given a mobile, she got addicted to it and wouldn’t even eat properly. The girl even stopped focusing on her studies and refused to go to school. Hence, her brother used to scold her and he did the same on Friday morning, informed the mother. (ALSO READ: Scolded by father, teenager commits suicide)
