Davos, Jan 23: For the first time in two decades an Indian Prime Minister is attending the World Economic Forum being held at the Swiss Alps town of Davos. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is  delivering the opening plenary address at the World Economic Forum 2018.  During his 24-hour trip, PM Modi is expected to hardsell Brand India while projecting India as the next big player as far as the world economy is concerned. | Watch Live

PM Modi and his contingent which includes Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State for External Affairs M J Akbar and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region of India Jitendra Singh will be holding a series of meeting with world leaders to showcase the government’s reforms such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and initiatives like Make in India, Skill India, Invest India  to attract investors.

Earlier, PM Modi  hosted a round-table meeting at the World Economic Forum 2018 and told top CEOs that ‘India means business’. Narrating India’s growth story at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2018 in the snow-covered town of Davos, PM Modi also conveyed that India presents an exciting opportunity for the global businesses. The roundtable was attended by 40 top CEOs of global companies and 20 from India.

PM Modi is also expected to meet Swiss President Alain Berset and hold extensive talks on bilateral, regional and international issues. Nearly  130 Indian CEOs,  over 2,000 business leaders and 70 heads of state and governments are attending the World Economic Forum, 2018 in Davos.
