From barring people of seven Muslim-majority countries to recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and terming North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un a ‘rocket man on a suicidal mission’, the US President has always hit the headlines.

Let’s took a look at Trump’s presidency so far:

Executive Order against Obamacare on Day 1: Within hours of taking the oath, new United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order aimed at “minimising the economic burden” of Obamacare “pending repeal,” to make good on one of his most impassioned campaign promises of dismantling his predecessor’s healthcare law.

Sacks Acting Attorney General Sally Yates: On Jan 31, Trump fired Acting Attorney General Sally Yates after she defied him by refusing to have the Justice Department defend his executive order on immigration and refugees in court.

Fires FBI Chief James Comey: On May 10, 2017, Trump fired FBI chief James Comey. “You are hereby terminated and removed from the office, effective immediately,” Trump said in a letter to Comey, who was four years into his 10-year term as FBI director.

First Foreign Trip in Saudi: Trump was the only American President to make Saudi Arabia, or any majority Muslim country, his first stop overseas. Trump launched an eight-day foreign tour in Saudi Arabia On May 20, 2017. Beside sealing a defence deal with the Kingdom, Trump also addressed the issue of ‘Islamic extremism’.

Kim Jong Un a ‘Rocket Man on a suicide mission’: In his maiden address at United Nationa general Assembly, the US President threatened to “totally destroy” North Korea, if it did not step aside from its nuclear weapons programme. “Rocketman is on a suicide mission for himself and for his regime,” Trump had said.

Humiliating Loss in Virginia and New Jersey: President Donald Trump suffered an embarrassing defeat as Democrats won high-profile state and mayoral elections. The Virginia governor’s race had all the makings of a nailbiter, but in the end, Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam trounced his Republican rival Ed Gillespie by an unexpectedly wide nine percentage points in the southern battleground state. In New Jersey, Democrat Phil Murphy reclaimed the governorship with a victory of about 13 percentage points over his rival following eight years of Republican Governor Chris Christie.

Jerusalem as Israel’s capital: Donald Trump recognised Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and also started the process of moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to the holy city, a move against the long-held American principles which many Arab leaders warned could trigger more violence in the Middle East.
