Washington, April 2: The United States President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the children who were brought to the United States without proper documentation would not get any DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) deal.

DACA– a programme that shields illegal immigrants from deportation who were brought to the United States as children– was started by the former president Barack Obama.

Trump, a vocal critic of “lax immigration laws”, said in a Tweet: “No MORE DACA DEAL!”

Donald Trump had given lawmakers six months to find a permanent solution to the problem, after shutting down the programme. However, legal challenges to Trump’s orders on DACA had given a short lease of life to the programme.

“Border Patrol Agents are not allowed to properly do their job at the Border because of ridiculous liberal (Democrat) laws like Catch & Release. Getting more dangerous. “Caravans” coming. Republicans must go to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws NOW. NO MORE DACA DEAL!,” Trump tweeted.

“Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the U.S. They laugh at our dumb immigration laws. They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. NEED WALL!” he added.

“These big flows of people are all trying to take advantage of DACA. They want in on the act!” he concluded.

Implemented in 2012 by the then US President Barack Obama, the DACA programme essentially provided a legal status to young immigrants who entered the United States as minors or a renewable two-year term to pursue education or jobs without fear of deportation. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had stopped accepting new DACA applications last year after Donald Trump’s order.
