Kathmandu, Dec 8: A moderate intensity earthquake of 5.0 magnitude on Ritcher Scale hit Nepal on Friday morning, said the India Meteorological Department in an alert. The epicentre of the earthquake that struck Nepal is located at longitude 86.1812 and latitude 27.7986 in Dolakha.

The quake occurred near Jiri, Central Development Region and had a depth of 10 km. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

Nepal was hit by a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake in 2015 that left nearly, 9,000 people dead and as many as 22,000 injured.
