US: Man shoots Indian dead at a bar in Kansas, yells ‘get out of my country’
The former US Navy employee has been arrested for allegedly killing an Indian and wounding two others.
Washington, Feb 24: An Indian engineer was reportedly shot dead on Thursday by a man who allegedly fired while shouting ‘get out of my country’. According to reports, the shooter, identified as Adam Purinton, shouted racial slurs at two people he thought to be from the Middle East. The New York Daily News reported that Adam shouted “get out of my country” before opening fire, killing one man, and injuring the other.

Adam, a former US Navy employee, has been arrested for allegedly killing the Indian engineer and wounding two others. The incident took place at Austins Bar and Grill in Olathe where Adam was said to be heavily drunk and allegedly began making racial comments on the two Indians. In the incident, 51-year-old Adam also injured another man who tried to interfere. The third man has been identified as Ian Grillot.
Adam raised questions over their presence in the States and even asked how they are better than him. Fearing the situation might get worse, the Bar management had apparently asked Adam to leave the place. He did leave them and returned with a gun after a while, reported Telugu 360.
The victim has been identified as Srinivas Kuchibhotla, an engineer at Garmin. His colleague Alok Madasani was injured in the incident. According to reports, Kuchibhotla died at a local hospital and Madasani and Ian Grillot were hospitalised.
According to Daily Mail, the deceased, Kuchibhotla, had a Master’s degree in electrical and electronics engineering from University of Texas, El Paso and in 2014 was picked by Garmin International to look after the company’s chopper programs.
At least one witness has claimed that Purtinton yelled ‘get out of my country’ and also heard him screaming racial slurs before opening fire.
Post incident:
Following the incident RD Joshi Consulate General of India, Houston and VC H. Singh rushed to Kansas to assist shooting victim. External Affairs of India Sushma Swaraj took to Twitter to express shock at the incident. “Shocked at shooting incident in Kansas in which Srinivas Kuchibhotla has been killed. My condolences to bereaved family,” she tweeted. “I have spoken to Indian Ambassador in US Mr.Navtej Sarna. He informed me that two Indian Embassy officials have rushed to Kansas. Indian Ambassador has also informed me that Alok Madasani who was injured in the incident has been discharged from the hospital. We will provide all help and assistance to the bereaved family,” she added.

Five hours after the shooting, Purinton was in a bar around 140 kms away in Clinton, Missouri and told a barman that he killed two men from the Middle East and wanted a place to hide. Upon hearing this the barman called the police. The police then spoke to Adam over the phone and convinced him to surrender.
Purinton is being held at Henry County Jail and no charges have been levied upon him yet. He is a former Navy employee who dwells alone, people told Fox 4.
