Columbus, Nov 28: At least one active shooter was reportedly present inside the Ohio State University campus. Random gun firings were heard inside the campus. University’s Department of Public Safety website has confirmed the presence of one active shooter at the campus. Columbus police has arrived on the spot. The area had been cordoned off. Massive manhunt operation was initiated inside the university campus to nab the accused. The suspected gunman was shot dead nearly an hour after the police operation began. At least 7 people have been reportedly injured in the gun firing by the shooter. They have been rushed to the nearby hospital, Columbus Fire Department said.

Ohio State University management had alerted the students to take safe refuge. Students and faculty members inside the campus were instructed to hide themselves safely as the situation went out of control.

 


As of now, no terror angle has been indicated. The shooter is suspected to be changing his positions inside the campus. Police teams have launched a careful operation to nab him. Precautions are been taken to prevent casualties.

 


Ambulances also lined up outside the campus to ensure swift transportation of victims to hospitals. Gunshots were being reportedly heard from the campus. The police operation is expected to last for a couple of hours.
