Washington, Dec 2: Dr. Michelle Herren, an anesthesiologist and assistant professor at Colorado University School of Medicine in Denver, has been barred from seeing patients after she addressed first lady Michelle Obama “monkey face” on Facebook and she defended herself by saying she is not a racist.
On the social media giant she wrote: “”doesn’t seem to be speaking too eloquently here, thank god we can’t hear her! Harvard??? That’s a place for ‘entitled; folks said all the liberals!” Dr. Herren added she was just “calling it like it is”.
As per a report of The Independent Joann Nieto a Facebook user notified the Colorado University Board of Regents regarding this post.
The medical centre stated, “until further notice, Michelle Herren, MD, will not be seeing patients or providing anesthesia services at Denver Health.” The hospital added that it was “deeply disappointed” as well as “offended” by Herren’s words.
The comment has been erased from the social networking site and Dr. Herren has taken down her page.
She said on phone to ABC that her comments were taken “out of context” and claimed she didn’t realize the term “monkey face” is racist.
