Pirmahal (Pakistan), Mar 28: In a shocking incident, 12 people allegedly ordered ‘revenge’ rape of a girl to settle a dispute between two families in Punjab province in Pakistan. The incident took place on March 21 in Pirmahal near Lahore. The arrested men include elders and members of the two families.

Police officer Rehmat Ali said that on March 20, a man, identified as Wasim Saeed of Gharibabad, had raped one of the girls in his locality. When the victim’s family threatened to lodge an FIR against the accused, accused Saeed’s family sought pardon from the victim’s family and requested to settle the matter in the court.

Both the sides agreed to let the brother of the rape victim would rape the sister of the accused in a ‘revenge rape’ to settle the dispute between the two families. “The victim and suspect families agreed that the brother of the victim girl would rape the suspect’s sister to settle the issue,” the police official told PTI.

The official said that he found about the incident when both the concerned families were preparing a stamp paper which had mentioned the two incidents and their decision of not to initiate legal action against each other for reconciliation. At least 12 people, including women of the families, have been arrested for ordering ‘revenge rape’.
