Vietnam, Oct 12: At least 37 people have been killed and another 40 are missing after floods and landslides ravaged northern and central Vietnam on Thursday. A total of 21 people have been left injured by the disasters and over 1,000 houses have been destroyed or damaged. In the six central and northern provinces of Vietnam, 16,740 homes have been submerged and losses to infrastructure and crops have been reported due to the calamities.

Central Vietnam was hit by the tropical depression on Tuesday which has bought heavy rains in the region.

The landslides and the floods have hit hard in the northern province of Hoa Binh where a total of 11 people have been killed and 21 others are reported to be missing. Reports say that the casualties include four families whose houses were buried in a landslide that killed six and left another 12 missing.
