Volkswagen India has finally unveiled the new Ameo compact sedan for the Indian market. Post its unveiling, the compact sedan will way its way to the Delhi Auto Expo 2016. Based on Volkswagen's PQ24 platform, the new Ameo compact sedan leek and elegant design and comes with the same wheelbase as that of Polo. On the exterior, it bags dual-beam Headlamps, Electrically foldable ORVM’s, door mirror with turn indicators, Reverse view camera and chrome appliqué on door handles. It is powered by 1.2-litre MPI petrol engine and a 1.5-TDI diesel unit. The petrol version churns out of 74 bhp and 110 Nm torque and diesel variant produces 88.7 bhp and 230 Nm of torque.
Features that are incorporated in the new Ameo includes rain sensing wipers, cruise control, SMS Viewer, Touch screen display, Mirror-link, Steering wheel with Audio and Bluetooth controls, Auto dimming, IRVM and single holding rear seat with back rest. On the interiors, it comes with cooled glove box, climatic control system, cruise control, tiltand telescopic steering wheel and static cornering light. In terms of safety, the compact sedan is packed with Airbags and ABS as standard. As far as the launch date is concerned, it will hit the Indian roads by H2, 2016. Talking about the competition, it will rival against the likes of the Maruti Swift Dzire, Ford Figo Aspire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and Tata Zest.
