The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, Brazil, will take place from August 05 to 21. More than 10,500 athletes will be participating in the games. The games will also see India's biggest contingent, having as many as 120 athletes. There will be 306 events spread across 28 sports. For India, it will be 66 events in as many as 15 sports. For India, the usual suspects are the best medal contenders. Those who have been there and done that. Think of Saina Nehwal, Gagan Narang, Abhinav Bindra and Yogeshwar Dutt.
Some of the others who will be keenly watched include PV Sindhu and the mixed doubles pair of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna. The games have not been shy of controversy with some athletes pulling out citing Zika virus fears. Coming back to India, it is expected that the largest contingent may also give the biggest medal haul, for which it will have to top the six medals from London 2012.
