It is a proud moment and time to celebrate for late actor Sridevi’s daughters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor and Husband Boney Kapoor as the late veteran actress gets conferred with the 65th National Film Awards 2108. The family is overjoyed and has expressed gratitude to the Government of India and to their friends, fans and family for all the love as Sridevi gets bestowed with this special recognition for her performance in the film Mom (2017). In an official statement released by the family, Janhvi, Khushi and Boney said that Sridevi’s legacy will live on.
The statement reads, “We are overjoyed to know that the Jury has conferred the Best Actor Award to Sridevi for her performance in ‘MOM’. It’s a very special moment for all of us. She was always a perfectionist and it showed in all the 300 plus films she did. She was not just a Super Actor but a Super Wife and a Super Mom. It’s time to celebrate her life and her achievements. She is not with us today but her legacy will always live on. We thank the Government of India, the Hon’ble Jury Members for this honor. We also take this opportunity to thank all our friends, her fans who have been sending us congratulatory messages. Thank you, Janhvi, Khushi & Boney Kapoor.”
Earlier, when the awards were announced this morning, Mom director Ravi Udyawar had said, “Wow, Sridevi deserves it. I’m really happy. It’s a great news for me because it was our film. She had done a fabulous job. We all are missing her now.” When Sridevi left for heavenly abode on 24th February this year, she left a void in the film industry that cannot be filled. She was slated to start shooting for a film with Karan Johar (which will now have Madhuri Dixit) and one with her English Vinglish director Gauri Shinde. Alas, the talented actress left us before the projects could take off.
