New Delhi, April 14: A Karkardooma court on Saturday convicted in a Rs 5 crore loan recovery case. The court is expected to pronounce the quantum of punishment to the actor and his wife on April 23. The 5 crore loan recovery case dates back to 2010.

In 2010, Rajpal Yadav and his wife had borrowed a loan for Yadav’s Hindu debut directional movie Ata Pata Laapata from a Delhi-based entrepreneur, MG Agarwal (owner of Murli Projects). MG Agarwal filed a case against the couple in the high court after they couldn’t repay him.

In 2013, Yadav was sent to a judicial custody for 10 days after he tried to hide facts about the case. The Karkardooma court had also ordered the attachment of the assets and a company owned by the couple.

The court had issued contempt against the two women lawyers presenting the couple’s case and an oath commissioner for submission of a forged affidavit.

In 2015, Rajpal Yadav declared in the court that Rs 1.58 crore had been paid back. The remaining amount of Rs 3.42 crore would be repaid in 30 days as a new company was ready to take up the responsibility of his loan.

The actor is known for his comic roles and has been part of movies like Phir Hera Pheri, Dhol, Bhool Bhulaiya etc.
