Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Padmavati is in the midst of a lot of controversy ever since news of it being made first made headlines. Now, with less than a month remaining for the film to hit the screens, the Deepika Padukone–Shahid Kapoor–Ranveer Singh starrer is facing the ire of extremist Rajput outfits who are against its release. Some Hindu groups and political parties, including the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claim that the film distorts history and wrongly portrays Rajput queen Padmavati. In fact just earlier today, a group of people vandalized a cinema hall in Kota, Rajasthan against it showing the trailer of the movie. While each of the lead actors has condemned these attacks and the unnecessary controversy surrounding it on several public platforms, the latest one to join them is actress Aditi Rao Hydari who is essaying the role of Alauddin Khilji’s wife in the period drama.
Recently, Aditi was all praises for Bhansali and said that he is one director who celebrates the culture and music of Indian in his films. Earlier today, she tweeted that Bhansali is “an artist everyone should be proud of”. “He celebrates our stories, our culture, our music. Despite every trial by fire that we put him through… we love you Sanjay Leela Bhansali more power to you,” tweeted Aditi, who will be seen in the forthcoming film “Padmavati”. Padmavati features Deepika Padukone in the titular role as Rani Padmavati, alongside Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji. Meanwhile, check out Aditi’s tweets. While fans were blown away seeing the first look and trailer of the historical magnum opus, one thing they all missed for sure, was Aditi Rao Hydari. In fact, it won’t come as a surprise if most of them say that they didn’t know she is a part of the film. In an interview with The Times Of India, Aditi had said that the reason why she wasn’t a part of the trailer was because she was shooting for the film until two days before its launch. Additionally, the actress admitted that she is very happy to be a part of such a film and to feature opposite “great actors and talent”. Padmavati is slated to release on December 1.
