New beginnings – yes that’s what this week (April 9 – 13) was all about. After months or speculations over who will be the new admissions in the brand new batch of Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year 2, the news all had been waiting for is finally here! Newbies Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria are confirmed as the leading ladies opposite Tiger Shroff. The posters were revealed this week, along with the release date as November 23. With this, Ananya has become the third female star kid to be making her Bollywood debut in 2018, along with Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan. But there is more than their filmi background and same debut year that is common between these three debutants  – they have the same person playing the wind beneath their wings. Check the full story here.

Talking about debuts, Sara Ali Khan, who was initially slated to meet the audience in Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath, will now make her debut with Rohit Shetty’s Simmba opposite Ranveer Singh. The former has been pushed to early next year according to the director and we feel the fall out with KriArj must be the reason. As of now, the production house is out of the picture and Ronnie Screwvala has come on board as the producer of this love story, also starring Sushant Singh Rajput.

But Kedarnath is not the only film that has had to face trouble because of KriArj. Another film that they are producing, Aishwarya Rai BachchanAnil KapoorRajkummar Rao’s Fanne Khan has had to stall shooting since the production house failed to pay the dues. After Parmanu, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, and Kedarnath, this is the fourth film that is in trouble due to Prernaa Arora’s KriRaj Entertainment. “We were told that the payments would come in by early March, but haven’t received a penny. So, we’ve decided not to start work on the next schedule till we get paid. We have given an ultimatum to the producers to clear the dues by April 15. the makers have been given “an ultimatum to clear the dues by April 15,” revealed a crew member to a leading tabloid.

Let’s hope that the production house gets its act straight soon. But coming back to things to look forward to, it looks like the preps for Sadak 2 have started. Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt were seen having a meeting with Mahesh Bhatt at his office this week and we hear it was to discuss with them the reading session and when the film will go on floors. It will also star Pooja Bhatt and a young star opposite Alia. While initially there were reports that Siddharth Malhotra will be part of the project, post his breakup with the Raazi diva, that is now doubtful.

By the way, the trailer of one of the most looked forward to films Raazi too released this week and Alia’s portrayal of spy Sehmat is spine chilling. There is another video that the makers released this week which takes us on the journey of how a normal, feminine, gentle girl from Kashmir, reached Pakistan and turned a spy, talking in morse code, driving a jonga and handling weapon. Watching the Decoding Sehmat video will make you believe that Alia is Bollywood’s Ms Perfectionist.

And then, we have a couple who is keeping fans on the hooks with new updates about their wedding every few days. There is buzz that Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja will be tying the knot by April end. From a Swiss wedding in May to a desi do this month – we have heard it all. But there is no confirmation whatsoever from the families or friends of the couple. There is a guest list of Sonam Kapoor – Anand Ahuja wedding out as well and we just can’t wait for the two to make it official. The fashionista was also in news for the shoot of her music video for Veere Di Wedding along with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania. We hear its a gender-bender number created by Baadshah and Farah Khan Kunder has choreographed the girls.

The celebrations in Bollywood somewhere got dampened with the ongoing outrage for the 8-year-old minor from Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir, who was kidnapped, drugged, gang-rapped repeatedly and eventually murdered. There is an uproar on social media, with people demanding justice for the little girl and Bollywood celebs like Anushka Sharma, Sonam, Swara, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Arjun Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Riteish Deshmukh and many others have become part of the #JusticeForOurChild #EndRape campaigns.

At the movies, Varun Dhawan – Banita Sandhu’s October, directed by Shoojit Sircar, has won critics and audiences’ hearts. The actor is being hailed for his performance that will make you laugh, cry and fall in love with him. You can read October Movie Review here.

We are waiting to see the teaser / trailer of the film. Veere Di Wedding trailer is supposed to come out on the April 19th and Ranbir Kapoor’s The Dutt Biopic ‘Sanju’ trailer will be out on the 24th April. We might get to see a first look poster before that in the coming week. Can’t wait!
