After getting clearance from CBFC and a few alterations, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat will finally hit theatres on January 25. While we are really happy that we’ll finally get to see Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor’s much talked about film on the big screen, Akshay Kumar isn’t too pleased. Reason? Well, SLB’s film will clash with Akshay’s Padman at the box office. The Airlift actor isn’t too happy that his film which has a social message will have to fight it out with a biggie on the same date.
According to a piece in Open Magazine by Rajeev Masand, Akshay Kumar wasn’t not too happy with the Padmaavat and PadMan clash because the latter is the first film under wife Twinkle Khanna’s banner and also because his film is a smaller one and has a relevant social message so he was hoping that he would get a solo release for the same. The actor also reportedly got in touch with the producers of Padmaavat which also included SLB so that they could shift their release date. The makers of the period drama then appealed to Kumar and made him understand the pressure that they have gone through to get their film released. Soon after this, the Airlift actor said there is enough room for two films to release and he also said that he was confident about his film’s content. Akshay was recently asked to comment on the Padmaavat and PadMan clash. To this, he said, “It is not about competition, it is a very big day, a big week, so all the films can come, both the films can release on that day. Every film has the right to release whenever they want, and I am happy for them.”
