Arjun Kapoor birthday special: 5 best roles in which the actor had us hooked!

Love him or hate him, Arjun Kapoor is not the kind you can ignore. Paired with best buddy Ranveer Singh, we’ve seen him riot on stage, even when it was his own roasting session. Cheerful, happy and always a goofy presence, Arjun Kapoor lights up every room he enters. Speaking of him, Ranveer said that he is an extremely intelligent, funny and knowledgeable guy, who stimulates his imagination and is somebody who can be so engaging while talking that he just loves hanging out with him. And we’ve seen enough of Arjun this far to confirm that.

Since the actor turns 32 today (26th June), we look back on some of his best roles he’s rocked this far in Bollywood. Here are five of what we think are his best roles this far:

1. Ki and Ka (2016)

Ki and Ka featuring Kareena Kapoor opposite of Arjun sees Arjun do a very unconventional role. A role not just unconventional in Bollywood, but in the society as well. Here Arjun has a calm, composed and decided mindset, where he doesn’t want to embroil himself in generic career ambitions, but would rather live as a stay at home husband. The film received plaudits for the content, and Arjun nailed the role as well.

2. 2 States (2014)

This is the book adaptation on the life of the author of 2 States, Chetan Bhagat. Arjun Kapoor plays the role of an IITian who falls in love with his batchmate played by Alia Bhatt. The film focuses on the obstacles that the difference of the couple’s castes create. It ends up as a funny, as well as an emotional affair. 2 States, is this far Arjun’s biggest blockbuster having crossed the Rs. 100 cr margin. 3. Finding Fanny (2014)

A film which has often been dubbed as one for the niche crowds, Finding Fanny was indeed rather different. The film that was made originally in English language tried to approach the artsy side of filmmaking. The film saw Arjun Kapoor in a rather irritated character called Savio throughout the film, which he pulled off fabulously. Although the film couldn’t impress the box office, or the critics even. However, Arjun should be happy with his performance in this one. Agreeing to do a film like Finding Fanny itself shows his versatility, and flexibility in his attitude towards acting.

4. Gunday (2014)

Needless to say, Gunday wasn’t the best film of Arjun by far. The crowds were really excited to see the best friend jodi of Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh on-screen as badasses kicking butt, which was the main reason it saw the film earn well over Rs. 70 cr. And while their jodi looked good on-screen, the film managed to be a box office hit. However, it failed to impress the critics.

5. Ishaqzaade (2012)

This was Arjun’s debut film that had kickstarted Arjun’s career. The film managed to be a super hit among the fans. Playing the role of Parma Chauhan who falls for Zoya Qureshi (Parineeti Chopra), are two rebellious individuals who belong to two rival political families. Soon, they secretly get married and their families decide to kill them. The story was emotional, and its climax hard-hitting. Arjun outdid himself in his first outing here, which garnered almost Rs. 50 cr.

Happy Birthday Arjun!
