The year 2018 is getting more and more interesting as far as Bollywood movies are concerned. The year promises to present some of the most interesting never seen before jodis and the latest to join the list of this new pairing is Karan Johar’s Kesari. The filmmaker has finalised Parineeti Chopra to play the female lead opposite Akshay Kumar and fans are looking forward to see the chemistry between this first time onscreen couple.

The film’s story, based the the historical battle of Sargarhi, guarantees a great buzz around it and this will benefit the careers of all those involved in the project. And, for Parineeti, being a part of this ambitious project might just prove to be extra beneficial. The actress has a decent fan following and is loved for her bubbly avatars in films. However, she hasn’t been able to enter the big league as yet. We blame it on the roles that she has been doing. The actress hasn’t got the right kind of character to play where she can go all out and unleash the actress in her and show the audience what she is capable of.

But Kesari might just be the film that Parineeti Chopra needs to take her Bollywood career to the next level. The reason is Akshay Kumar. It really pays to be his heroine. He is perhaps one of the few actors in Bollywood, who do not really get bothered on insecure when their leading lady has an equally important, strong part to play in the narrative. If you look at just some of his recent films, the picture will become clear. In Airlift (2016) while Nimrat Kaur had a few scenes, those were impactful. In Rustom (201), he let Ileana D’Cruz shine with her acting instead of being reduced to just a pretty face. In Naam Shabana (2017), he happily played a second fiddle to Taapsee Pannu. In the more recent Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017), Bhumi Pednekar had an equal footing as the male lead throughout the film. Now, while promoting Padman (2018), Akshay credited the characters played by both his leading ladies Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte as the wind beneath the wings of his Padman character.

In Kesari as well, while the film will majorly revolve around the battle and the lives of the people involved, we can expect Parineeti to have a role that will give her scope to showcase a never seen before side to her and leave her fans impressed, while winning some new ones as well. We are expecting a revelation and are sure we won’t be disappointed. What do you think?
