Bhoomi is set to be Sanjay Dutt‘s comeback film and everything from its early impressions looks quite intense, just what you’d expect from a Sanjay Dutt action film. However, it may just have been a tad too intense for the Central Board Of Film Certification. The board called out on a total of 13 scenes to be cut from the action-thriller, one particular cut of which leaving the makers perplexed.

Bhoomi is a revenge drama where the father (Sanjay Dutt) takes the revenge against his daughter’s (Aditi Rao Hydari) rapists. The rape scene is one of most crucial scenes of the film, and the makers are agitating over its deletion. The film’s director Omung Kumar is left rattled as the rape forms the crux of the theme.  A source informs DNA, “The makers argued that the rape sequence is very important to the film. They even cited the example of the recent Sridevi starrer Mom where a rape was at the core of the plot. But the argument did not hold water as in Mom, no rape was shown. In fact, producer Kapoor had removed all the graphic suggestions of sexual violation to make the product more palatable to a family audience.” ALSO READ: Sanjay Dutt: I had a burden of a case on my head for 25 years, that burden has come off

However, the Bhoomi team has gone home along with their U/A certificate for now. The film stars Sanjay Dutt and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles. It is directed by Omung Kumar and is slated to release on September 22, 2017.
