Saif Ali Khan’s new film, Chef just released yesterday, and after Rangoon, and the blank page that was last year for him, it was certainly an important project for him. However, this year has been a fuller plate for the actor as he has signed on quite a few films and even the Netflix web series Sacred Games. Chef happens to be a remake of Jon Favreau’s Hollywood film of the same name, and as it seems, his film has received all the good word the makers must’ve hoped for, so let’s see what the numbers suggest.

The film has released in 1570 screens across India, 327 screens overseas, which brings the total to 1897 screens worldwide, however, it doesn’t seem the film made itself known too well among the audiences. Despite thumbs up from the critics, the film has only bagged Rs 1.05 crores on its opening day, which is a shockingly low number. The reviews can serve an integral purpose for the film as this weekend seems very crucial for the film to survive.

The film’s story revolves around a professional chef, who quits his job at a popular restaurant, and decides to resume his career in a food truck that he starts with his friend and son. Apart from Saif, the film stars child actor Svar Kamble as Saif’s onscreen son, Padmapriya and Chandan Roy Sanyal. The film was earlier slotted for a July 14, 2017 release but was postponed to avoid clash with Ranbir Kapoor – Katrina Kaif’s Jagga Jasoos. However, the film was pushed back and it is now set to release on October 6, 2017.
