Dangal, is easily the most awaited movie of this year and Aamir Khan is touted to be the biggest yearender so far. We are watching the movie right now and man, we see already impressed with the man and his movie. The fact om starts off just like Salman Khan’s Sultan. No, no don’t get us wrong it has a totally different plot and treatment. Aamir Khan sits on his scooter and gives us a glimpse of his glorious past. There is an Olympics wrestling match playing on a rickety television and Aamirs Mahavir Singh Phogat looks at the match wistfully hoping for a male child. And like we saw in the trailer, the kids impress their papa who start training them ASAP. His initial attempts are met with a lot of disdain and trepidation by people the girls themselves.

The film not only exposes the hypocrisy of the society in a conservative Haryana but also makes a strong point about the dreary situation of sports in India. The movie is both inspiring and lovingly made by Mr Perfectionist like he said in the trailer, pyaar se … mehnat se. The girls fight well, with all their heart and soul making us watch them with rapt attention. Aamir is earnest in his performance and your heart goes out to him as his eyes brim with pride for his daughters. Geeta and babita Phogat played so beautifully well by Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar, and later by Fatima Sana Sheikh and Saniya Malhotra are believable. The first half ends with Aamir dropping off Fatima ( Geeta ) to the national training academy and getting insulted by her coach.
