Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati was finally cleared by the CBFC after a few alterations. Out of these alterations, one was that the film would be renamed and should be officially called Padmaavat and it has finally happened. The official Twitter and Facebook handles of the film starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh have changed the title of the pages from Padmavati to Padmaavat. When the film was cleared by the CBFC, Prasoon Joshi had mentioned that the name had to be changed and also there had to be a disclaimer during a few scenes. Clarifying about the same, Joshi was quoted saying, “We have also asked the makers to change the title from Padmavati to ‘Padmavat’ as the filmmakers have attributed their material/creative source to the fictional poem Padmavat and not history.” He also added, “We have asked the filmmakers to change the disclaimer to one that does not claim historical accuracy; modify the incorrect/misleading reference to historical places; add a disclaimer which states that the film in no manner subscribes or glorifies the practice of Sati.” (ALSO READ: CBFC Chief, Prasoon Joshi, Denies Rumours Of Padmavat Getting 300 Cuts )
Though there is no official communication from SLB or his production team, the film is slated to release on January 25 alongside R Balki’s PadMan which stars Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor in key roles. The Akshay Kumar starrer was to earlier clash with Manoj Bajpayee and Sidharth Malhotra starrer Aiyyari however, the makers of Aiyyari have postponed the release date of their film and decided to release on February 9.
