Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter‘s Dhadak is perhaps one of the most anticipated films of the year. That it’s a Hindi remake of the popular Marathi film, Sairat, is a known fact. Well, the film is almost nearing completion. And while the overall shoot of the film has been quite a cake walk, the most difficult part of it must have been recreating the most popular song of the film, Zingaat. For the uninitiated, Zingaat is a cult song from Sairat, which became quite a craze when the film released in 2016. Everyone seems to be interested in knowing what changes have the makers made to the song in Dhadak for Ishaan and Janhvi’s version of the popular song. Well, choreographer of the song, Farah Khan just divulged some details of the song and guess what!! It seems Karan Johar wanted the song to be made into an item number.
Speaking about how she came out of choreography retirement for Zingaart, Farah revealed to Mid-Day, “Karan said that his director Shashank (Khaitan) was scared to call me and that he really wants me to do a song for the movie. The minute he said that the song in question is Zingaat, I told him that I won’t do it because it’s a cult song.” However, seems like Karan did a good job in convincing her to do the song. An as soon as she agreed to choreograph the song, she saw that Karan and Shashank had different ideas for the song. Furthermore, Farah told the the leading tabloid, “Karan said he wanted it to be big and commercial, it has to be the ‘item song’ of the movie. On the other hand, the director wanted it to be natural and earthy.”
Needless to say, she was is quite a conundrum. So she likes to say that she conceptualised a “mix of commercial and candid” for the new version of Zingaat. We are sure the song will be the highlight of the film. Dhadak is slated to release on July 20. Stay tuned to this space as we keep you updated with all that you need to know about Dhadak.
