There is a lot that has been said and written about Jhanvi Kapoor‘s Bollywood debut. Reports say that she is set to star in the Hindi remake of Marathi blockbuster Sairat opposite Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khattar. Earlier it was said that she will make her debut with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year 2 that stars Tiger Shroff, but then again there is no confirmation on either of these two projects whatsoever.
So while everyone is waiting for an official announcement, Jhanvi’s mother and actress Sridevi has made a statement that has shocked us! It seems that the veteran actress wasn’t really keen on her daughter entering the world of showbiz. In an interview to Mid Day, Sridevi, who is currently promoting her upcoming film Mom, revealed that she was not on board with the idea of Jhanvi doing Bollywood films.
“She wanted to do the film (SOTY 2) and initially, I wasn’t in favour. I don’t think it’s a bad industry. I am a creation of this world. But as a parent, it would give me greater joy to see her married. But her happiness matters more, and if she does well as an actress, I will be a proud mother.” Well, this is surprising. I mean someone who is popular because of the film industry saying that is a bit strange, but then at the same time, she has been there and done that, and knows what Jhanvi will have to face. However, it’s great that the actress is not pressurising her daughter and is happy with her career choices. ALSO READ: Sara Ali Khan and Jhanvi Kapoor spotted at a girly dinner date! (View pic)
Sridevi also spoke about bringing Jhanvi and her second daughter Khushi to the social gatherings, “Earlier I would take them (Jhanvi and Khushi) to social gatherings and premieres that I attended. But they (people) thought I was promoting Jhanvi. Walking with my girls made me feel like a proud mother. But to the world, it became a reason to misunderstand me.”
