Entertainment Movie Review: Akshay Kumar fails & makes it Enter'pain'ment

Entertainment Movie Review

Akshay Kumar who is known for his comic roles in Hera Pheri, Garam MasalaWelcome, Heyy Babyy and Housefull has fallen flat in his recent comedies. His latest movie Entertainment, supposed to be a funny movie, turned out to be Enter’PAIN’ment! Attending a dog show would be a preferable option for those who are going to watch this movie only because of the dog. Entertainment witnesses a bone-tickling start but as and when the movie proceeds, it begins to numb your funny bone.

Akshay Kumar aka Akhil Lokhande is shown performing some catchpenny jobs to earn his daily bread. But this slum dog becomes a millionaire when he gets to know that his real dad is a diamond merchant in Bangkok named Panalal Johri. But as soon as he gets to know about this thing, there’s a news flash – ‘Panalal Johri Dead’.

Akhil packs everything and moves to Bangkok to claim his share in the property of Rs. 3,000 crore. Enters Entertainment – the Dog, who is now the only heir of Akhil’s dad’s property. The whole movie revolves around the crappy concept of how Akhil takes revenge from Entertainment, how they both get together and live a happy life ever after.

Is this the Akshay Kumar movie we want to see by wasting our multi-hundred bucks? Entertainment is a mixture of the actor’s Heyy Babby (replace the baby with the dog), Welcome and many more comedies we have seen in the past.

The only thing to delight in the movie was Krushna Abhishek; this guy has some genuine talent. Each time he was on screen the audience was on a fun ride. Sonu Sood and Prakash Raj were wasted playing the role of two brothers ‘Karan and Arjun’ (obviously a take on the Salman Khan-Shah Rukh Khan film Karan-Arjun.

Hottie Tamannaah Bhatia was there only to flash her flesh, which she did exceedingly well. Mithun Chakraborty again disappointed after his consecutive flop performances in Boss and Kick. The little junior ‘Entertainment’ was charming in his role but his major scenes were giving an animated feel.

Let’s conclude the review in Entertainment style:

Movie dekhne aana, bohat hasaunga

(Kyun Paresh Rawal hai tu?)

Balaji Ki Kasam, action bhi dikhaunga

(Kyun Salman Khan hai tu?)

Agar nahi dekhi, toh aur ek flop de dunga

(Kyun Akshay Kumar hai tu?).

Each time Akshay Kumar comes out with a decent movie, he follows it up with a flop movie. Housefull, Action Replayy, Rowdy Rathore, Joker, Oh My God, Khiladi 786, and now Entertainment after super-hit Holiday.

Rating – 2/5.
