Rohit Shetty, who has helmed films like the Golmaal franchise, Singham, Chennai Express, Dilwale among others turns 45 today. The filmmaker, however, celebrated his birthday early this year on the sets of his talent reality show, India’s Next Superstars. And guess what? His close friend and Golmaal actor, Shreyas Talpade, surprised the director on the sets of the show. They reportedly had quite a birthday celebration with the entire unit for company.
Mumbai Mirror quoted a source as saying, “Rohit cut a cake on the set and Shreyas, instead of singing the birthday song, chose to croon a lullaby from Golmaal Again, “Zu Zu Zu Zu”, that had put Ajay Devgn’s Gopal to sleep in the film. It sent everyone into a laughing fit while the birthday boy went on to shyly reveal that he isn’t too fond of celebrating birthdays and had last had a party as a teenager.” He indeed had quite a blast celebrating his special day with his entire unit. His co-judge, Karan Johar, who recently returned from London, was also present.
Today, members from the film fraternity took to Twitter to wish the filmmaker. Singer Anup Jalota wrote, “Sometimes logical, sometimes magical your movies are always a fun retreat & mood changer. Be it comedy or power-pack action movie all comes as a package of wonder. Happiest birthday to the magical director #RohitShetty Ji. @TeamShetty”. Check out the birthday wishes below :
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Rohit Shetty is gearing up for his upcoming cop-comedy Simmba’ with Ranveer Singh. Speaking about collaborating with the filmmaker, Ranveer had said, ” I am playing Sangram Bhale Rao aka Simmba… He is a cop in the film. I am really very excited about collaborating with Rohit Shetty, more than anyone else. He is the king of masala films, which are loved more than any other films. So this is something I believe I was born to do and I am looking forward to it.”
