The most anticipated award’s function, IIFA Awards 2017 has finally come to an end. A galaxy of Bollywood stars were present in New York to ring in the most celebrated event of the year. The event was hosted by Karan Johar and Saif Ali Khan who entertained everyone with their antics. We also saw some energetic performances by actors like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan and Kriti Sanon-Sushant Singh Rajput that made the evening even more special.

But the most important part of the event was obviously the awards. The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards had announced the list of nominations in the popular category after the IIFA Global Voting was held from May 20, 2017 to June 18, 2017. And today, after all the wait, the winner’s list was finally announced. Shahid Kapoor, won the award for the best actor in a leading role category. While the actor’s wife, Mira Rajput Kapoor and the entire fraternity congratulated him on his win, there was one person, who didn’t seem quite happy with the result. Confused, are we? Well, few minutes after Shahid went on stage to receive the award, Sushant Singh Rajput who was also in the running for the same award, took to Twitter to share a sarcastic tweet.

Well, it seemed as if the actor was jealous. I mean why would anyone take to a social networking site to write, ‘hahaha’, that too minutes after the results were declared, unless he felt the whole award’s function was a joke. While Sushant’s role as MS Dhoni in the cricketer’s biopic was undoubtedly great, Shahid’s role as Tommy Singh in Udta Punjab was no less noteworthy. While no one likes to lose, dear Sushant, a man’s humility lies in accepting one’s defeat graciously and using the ‘failure’ to fuel personal growth. Taking to social media to ridicule another man’s win, just goes to show one’s own inability to play fair and accept defeat sportingly. Anyway, better luck next time! We’re sure, with some interesting movies lined up in the future, you’re sure to bag an award in the near future. Until then, all’s well that end’s well.
