When it’s a Rajinikanth movie trust it to always be a massive block buster. The makers of the Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson starrer 2.0 leaving no stone unturned to make sure that it surpasses even the Baahubali franchise in its earnings. After all, it’s the most anticipated movie of 2018.

After Zee bought the satellite rights of the movie at nearly Rs 110 crores in all the languages, the makers of the movie have allegedly sold the theatrical rights of the film’s Telugu version for Rs 81 Cr to Global Cinema and Lyca Productions.  However, the number is just an estimation and needs to be confirmed. It is expected to be the costliest dubbed film in the history of Telugu cinema.

Raju Mahalingam, creative head of Lyca Productions tweeted:

‘History in the Making.’ “2.0 – SOLD OUT for a Whopping Price!! AP and Telangana !!! Lyca Productions & Global Cinema partnership is a “History in the Making”!!!,” (SIC)

The film that was to release during Diwali this year, has been postponed to the following year reportedly due to the extensive VFX that will require a lot of time to get incorporated. However, DNA quoted an insider as saying that the makers have planned an interesting marketing strategy for the futuristic film that should offset the disappointment caused due to the delay.
Instead of the movie release, the team is now expected to reveal the look of the film by unveiling the first teaser promo on Diwali. Apparently both, Rajinikanth and Akshay, want to make up for the delay of the film and gift this to their fans.

This will soon be followed with the release of the trailer. A source close to the development of the movie was quoted by DNA as saying, “The trailer will be launched amid huge fanfare on Rajinikanth’s birthday (December 12). Rajini is worshipped down South and his films are celebrated like festivals. That’s why director Shankar wants to give all Thalaiva’s fans a gift

Written and directed by S. Shankar, co-written by B. Jeyamohan and produced by Subaskaran Allirajah, founder of Lyca Productions, 2.0 is expected to be an Indian science fiction film.  It is a sequel to the 2010 Tamil film Enthiran and will feature Rajinikanth essaying the roles of Dr. Vaseegaran and Chitti, alongside Akshay and Amy. The movie will be released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
