Ranveer Singh has had an epic start to 2018. Not only did his film, Padmaavat, break BO records worldwide, but his role as the menacing and ruthless Alauddin Khilji was also highly appreciated. The film will also get him the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, so to say that Padmaavat is special for him, would be an understatement. Well, he absolutely fit the role, and that we say not only with respect to his acting skills but also his looks and costumes. We have been curious for the longest time to know how he went about preparing for the character. He was asked about the process several times during the interviews and although he did explain it to us several times, we really wanted to know how his and the other’s members from the team first felt on seeing him as Khilji for the first time. Anyway, the movie competed 75 days today and on that occasion , Ranveer decided to give us all a sneak peek into his first ever look test for the role.
In the video, Ranveer is seen saying, “This man, he is not a human being, haiwaan”, as he puts on the contact lenses and gets artificial scars done by the make up artists, who by the way did a phenomenal job with his look in the film. The moment Ranveer saw himself in the Khilji look, he totally got into the character and it’s amazing. In the video, he reveals how his voice automatically changed after he was ready. Take a look at the video below and be amazed at how Ranveer transformed for what must have been perhaps the most difficult role of his life :
Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Padmaavat, also starred Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in the lead. While Deepika played the titular role of Rani Padmini aka Padmavati, Shahid essayed the role of her husband, Maha Rawal Ratan Singh. The film was ensued in a major controversy thanks to the Rajput group, Karni Sena that wouldn’t allow it to release. The film that was to previously release on December 1 last year, eventually released on January 25th this year and it became the first highest grosser of 2018. The period film has raked in over Rs 302 crore at the domestic market so far. Anyway, so what do you have to say about Ranveer’s behind-the-scenes (BTS) video?
