After an enthralling season, the grand finale of Rising Star 2 on Sunday, was an exciting affair with a close fight between some of the best singers of the season. The four finalists – Hemant Brijwasi, Vishnumaya Ramesh, Rohanpreet Singh and Zaid Ali – all had audiences’ hearts but there could be only one winner and Hemant Brijwasi was declared as the man who would take home the trophy. While Zaid was eliminated after the first round, there was still a close tie between the remaining three and it was difficult to tell who will win the show till the last minute.
All the three put out a mesmerising performance with Rohanpreet crooning Khuda Jaane from Bachna Ae Haseeno, Vishnumaya singing the soulful Silsila Ye Chaahat Ka from Devdas and last but not the least, Hemant singing the beautiful Alvida from Life in a Metro. He got 83 per cent votes, winning the show with a thunderous applause.
Interestingly, singing and winning at it is not new for Hemant. He is the winner of the popular Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs – 2009 and also participated in India’s Got Talent and Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar 2. Before becoming a name and face to reckon with at singing reality shows, Hemant, who hails from Mathura, used to sing bhajans with his father at bhajan sandhays and religious dos in and around Mathura and Delhi.
The singing reality show Rising Star 2 was judged by Shankar Mahadevan, Monali Thakur and Diljit Dosanjh and brought to fore some of the best singing talents from across the country. After a successful second season, we are sure the show on Colors will return in a bigger and better way. As for the winner Hemant Brijwasi, we expect to hear more of him in Bollywood films.
