Salman Khan has been convicted in the 1998 black buck poaching case while other actors involved have been acquitted. As you read this, the quantum of punishment is being decided and the prosecution has declared that it is asking for maximum jail term for the star (which can be anywhere between 3 – 7 years). The Race 3 actor will only be eligible for bail is he gets a term less that three years. Right now, the argument over the punishment term is over and the judge has stepped out of his chamber and is expected to announce the sentence soon.
Right now, there are also reports coming in about how the actor’s family reacted when the hearing was on and Salman was convicted. The actor was accompanied by his sisters Alvira Khan Agnihotri and Arpita Khan Sharma while at the court. While earlier there were reports that Salman looked tense and sad while in his hotel ahead of the hearing, sources say that he was calm and composed throughout the hearing at the court in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. His sisters though looked stressed especially after all the others apart from Salman were acquitted (the acquittal was announced before Salman was convicted). According to News 18, when the judge finally announced the verdict, convicting Salman in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, his sisters were unmoved. But we hear that Alvira broke down in the court after a while.
The family is keenly awaiting the sentencing Salman’s lawyers are also ready with bail proceedings, condition that the actor gets a jail term which is lesser than three years. If not, he will be taken to the Jodhpur Central Jail.
