In a major blow this week, Bollywood’s blockbuster actor Salman Khan got convicted in the 1998 Blackbuck poaching case. He was sentenced to five years imprisonment, along with Rs 10,000 as fine. Fans were disappointed an angry – on two counts. One – the other actor’s involved – Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Neelam Kothari – were let off. Two – the bail plea hearing that could have happened on Thursday, after the conviction, was delayed and then the decision was again pushed for Saturday instead of Friday. Bollywood’s favourite ‘bhai’ had to stay inside the Jodhpur Central jail for two nights and most expected him to spend the weekend also there, considering the bail plea decision following the transfer of judge hearing Salman’s case.

Apart from Salman’s case, which gave a lot of cine-buffs sleepless nights, what kept everyone hooked to Bollywood news is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s confirmation that she is in talks for the thriller film Raat Aur Din remake. In an interview to a fashion magazine, Ash revealed that Sanjay Dutt had talked to her about his wish to have her play his mother Nargis Dutt’s role in the film and it is finally being discussed now. She also said that she has been approached for the Who Kaun Thi? Remake as well but didn’t say further if she has given her nod to the film or not.

Mention of Sanjay Dutt will be incomplete without talking about the Dutt biopic. It has finally been revealed that either one of the teaser/trailer of the much awaited film will be out on April 24. Ranbir Kapoor has had all of us excited with his transformation as Dutt and we cannot wait to see what he has instore for us in the film. The Dutt biopic, called Sanju, is slated for a June 29 release.

Talking about new films, Aditya Roy Kapur and Mohit Suri’s romantic thriller has finally found a female lead in Sanya Malhotra. The film had been struggling to find a heroine, and according to reports, Kriti Sanon and Disha Patani both turned down the offer to play the leading lady.

One more exciting news that came our way is about John Abraham’s Parmanu. The film’s teaser came out this week with a new release date – May 4. The film had been ready to release since last year but got delayed due to the whole Padmaavat controversy. Since it didn’t want to clash with other releases, the film kept on being pushed. Amid all this, the makers also had a fall out with the actor and KriArj Entertainment’s Prernaa Arora has also filed an FIR against John. The complaint is for cheating, breach of trust, fraud, misappropriation of funds and copyright infringement and duping KriArj Entertainment of the crores of rupees invested by the company towards the production of the film Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran.

Incidentally, this is the second time in just two months that the production house has been in such a controversy, the first one being the fallout with Abhishek Kapoor, director of Kedarnath. All their issues are sorted out now and the film is back on schedule.

Apart from films, the personal lives of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have always had all fans interested and this week wasn’t different. When are the two getting married is a question everyone wants answered and Deepika finally put all rumours and speculations to rest in a recent interview. When asked if she has her big fat wedding to look forward to, the actress said ‘No’. She said that marriage is very important to her and she wants to see herself get married but it is not happening right now. She also said, “I go by my instincts and I will just know when I am ready, when the time is right.”

So that’s that then. The big Bollywood wedding that all have been waiting for, may not happen this year after all but Ranveer and Deepika will surely continue to give us couple goals. As we move ahead into the week, all eyes will be on Salman Khan’s case and if he receives bail or has to stay behind the bars in jail for a few more days. Amid all this, his film Race 3 will be majorly affected. The teaser(s) were supposed to go out from April second week but with this new development, we are not sure of the fate of the film. But let us just hope that justice is done, especially when there are increased tweets on social media, from influential members of the film and media fraternity saying that Salman didn’t kill the black buck and that he is taking the rap for someone else’s doing.
