Salman Khan has not apologised for rape remark in his reply to NCW; actor summoned for hearing on July 8

Reports have just come in that Bollywood actor Salman Khan has replied to the National Commission for Women (NCW) in response to the complaint filed against him for his ‘rape remark’. The actor has sent an official reply through his lawyer, ANI tweeted today. NCW Chief Lalitha Kumaramangalam has said that although Salman has responded to them, he has not aplogised for his insensitive remark.

ANI ‏tweeted, “Have received Salman Khan’s reply through his lawyer, he has not apologized, we are studying the reply: Lalitha Kumaramangalam, NCW chief”.

The latest tweet by ANI also reveals that the NCW case was heard today in court, but Salman Khan and his lawyer were absent. ANI tweeted, “Today the case over Salman Khan’s rape remark was heard, Neither Salman Khan now his lawyer were present: Vijaya Rahatkar, MSCW.”

The news agency also revealed more things about the case with its tweets. Take a look. “Received a letter by Salman Khan’s lawyer on June 28 stating, since the case is being held by NCW..(ctd): V Rahatkar”, said ANI, adding “…therefore the case should not be heard at state level to avoid double zero party- Vijaya Rahatkar, MSCW”.

The Sultan actor has now been summoned for an appearance on July 8, 2016, (the earlier date was July 7) by the Maharashtra State Commission for Women (MSCW). “Salman Khan has been asked to appear on July 7 for the hearing as this is a concurrent subject and state commission has power to hear: MSCW,” said ANI.

The Bollywood superstar has been embroiled in a controversy for the past two weeks for his rape remark at an event for his movie Sultan. He had said that after shooting for a wrestling scene in Sultan, he was so exhausted that he felt like a “raped woman”.

Salman with this comment enraged the entire nation, with most fans and people of the fraternity opposing his remark. While Salman’s dad Salim Khan has apologised for the rape remark saying it was a bad ‘simile’ and that his son’s intention was not wrong, the actor’s brother Arbaaz Khan feels he should give a justification for the comment.

A gang-rape victim from Haryana whose life has been destroyed after the ordeal she went through has filed a suit of Rs 10 crore on Salman Khan, demanding an apology and expressing shock over the casual remark. But Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut was of the opinion that although Salman’s comment was insensitive, we are collectively responsible for it as a society. Kangana felt “collectively sorry” for Salman’s remark on rape. She said, “We all agree that it’s a horrible thing to say. Something that is extremely insensitive. Let’s not encourage that mentality where we want to point fingers at each other and want to feel greater by running people down by trolling them. As a society we have to take responsibility and stand united. It’s a disgrace for the whole society and not an individual. So, like what Salim uncle said is right, that we are all sorry about it. It’s not about an individual. We all collectively feel sorry for that thought process.”

The Sultan actor was criticised by actresses Priyanka Chopra and Renuka Shahane. Listen to the exact quote of the Sultan star on feeling like a ‘raped woman’ in this audio clip!
