A Jodhpur court yesterday convicted Salman Khan in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The actor has been sentenced to five years in jail for killing two blackbucks in September 1998. While Salman was convicted, the others accused – Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Neelam were acquitted in the case. Salman spent the first night at Jodhpur Central Jail yesterday. The actor did not eat anything and was sleepless throughout the night.

Yesterday, Vikram Singh, DIG, Jodhpur addressed the media and has given details about the actor. He said, “Salman Khan has been given number 106 and is lodged in Ward number 2. He was made to undergo a medical test and has no medical issues. He hasn’t made any demands. “And now a report on News 18 has revealed more details about the actor’s stay in Jodhpur Jail. The report stated, “Salman did not eat anything after his verdict was announced and even refused to drink tea. He was offered a cauliflower and potato vegetable dish, a pulse and a chappati, which he refused to have. He also did not drink the tea served to him. As of yet, the actor was wearing his own clothes but will be given jail uniform once the jail store opens.”

The actor’s lawyer applied for bail at the Sessions Court this morning but the court has reserved its order over the plea till tomorrow. So with this, the actor will have to spend another day in jail today. The Sessions court will announce the order at 10:30 am tomorrow. Salman was charged under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act and others under Section 51 read with Section 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code.
